Responsibilities
Draft contract provisions for new retail annuity products by gathering and coordinating requirements from internal stakeholders
Develop project timelines and manage submission processes for product filings and state approvals
Analyze state insurance laws and Interstate Insurance Product Regulation Commission (IIPRC) standards for product development initiatives
Correspond and negotiate with state regulators, preparing and submitting responses to objections
Oversee product submissions in SERFF, streamlining the process to reduce approval time
Review, file, and obtain approval for consumer advertising and branding initiatives
Collaborate with marketing to ensure advertising aligns with product requirements and compliance standards
Maintain comprehensive records of regulated forms and ensure accurate usage across business units
Provide legal and regulatory support to internal operations and third-party administrators for in-force policy management
Maintain professional contact with state insurance departments and the IIPRC to stay current on compliance and product approval procedures
Qualification
Required
7+ years in the annuity and/or life insurance industry, with at least 3 years in a legal, compliance, or product development function
Strong understanding of insurance products, sales practices, and regulatory frameworks
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Professional
Working knowledge of SERFF and life/annuity product regulations
Legal drafting and interpretation
Regulatory compliance analysis
SERFF filing management
Preferred
Negotiation and correspondence with regulators
Cross-functional project coordination
Technical writing and communication
Experience with annuity, 401(k) annuity, pension risk transfer, or funding agreement products
Legal or compliance experience with product development or state filings
Knowledge of state insurance regulations
