Responsibilities
Lead and deliver traffic engineering services for state DOT and local agency clients
Manage traffic engineering projects and discipline-specific tasks including scope, schedule, budget, and quality
Perform and oversee advanced technical analyses including:
Capacity and microsimulation analysis
Safety studies and crash predictive analysis
Traffic volume development and forecasting
Traffic impact and operational studies
Signal timing, design, and optimization
Intelligent Transportation Systems planning and design
Administer quality management plans and conduct detailed technical reviews of deliverables
Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to support integrated transportation projects
Collaborate with national traffic engineering leadership to advance best practices, tools, and technical standards
Supervise, mentor, and develop traffic engineering staff at various experience levels
Support recruiting and hiring efforts to build and sustain a high-performing traffic engineering team
Establish priorities, manage workloads, and coordinate staffing and resource needs
Promote a collaborative, inclusive, and quality-focused work environment
Develop and maintain strong relationships with DOT and local agency clients
Participate in marketing and business development efforts aligned with regional and state growth strategies
Support proposal development, interviews, client discovery, and pursuit activities
Build partnerships with other consulting firms and internal disciplines to support business development and project delivery
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree from an ABET accredited program in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
Professional Engineer license
Minimum of 10 years of traffic engineering experience including demonstrated technical leadership
Experience delivering traffic engineering projects for DOT and or local agency clients
Proficiency with traffic engineering analysis tools and preparation of technical design documents
Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to interact effectively with clients, agency staff, and senior leadership
Preferred
Professional Traffic Operations Engineer certification
Experience delivering projects for SCDOT
Prior experience leading or supervising traffic engineering teams
