Tool Maker (Afternoons)

The Manual Machinist (Tool Maker) will be responsible for toolmaking, die repair, and fabrication, including operating manual machines and ensuring parts meet manufacturing standards.

Responsibilities

Set-up and operate miscellaneous manual machines, including mills, lathes, and grinders
Machine parts according to blueprint standards and specifications
Perform inspection related activities to ensure that parts are machined in accordance with manufacturing standards and blueprint specifications
Remove burrs, sharp edges, tool marks and other irregularities from machined parts to ensure they are in accordance with engineering blueprints, and tolerance requirements
Communicate change of shift requirements to ensure team members receive accurate and reliable information and documentation
Perform routine maintenance of machines and equipment operated
Clean, organize and maintain cellular manufacturing work area in accordance with established standards
Ensure the continuous flow of materials and parts through the Cell
Adhere to all safety standards and regulations
Participate in the training and development of other Cellular Manufacturing Associates to promote the continuous quality improvement of manufacturing operations
Strive to accomplish team goals and enhance the quality of machined parts through the reduction of scrap and improvement of throughput
Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Required

High School Diploma or GED
5 +years' experience with manual lathes and mills is required
Must be able to read, understand and correctly interpret basic blueprint drawings and follow planning instructions
Familiar with GD&T specifications and capable of performing basic inspections based on engineering drawings
Ability to use common measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, gauges (pin, thread, indicator, height), optical comparators etc
Attention to detail, ability to perform multiple tasks at the same time
Demonstrates strong organizational and collaborative skills in a fast-paced environment
Physical lifting requirements include; ability to lift 50 pounds (4 inches to 25 inches), capable of pushing or pulling a weight of 60 pounds, a grip strength of at least 50 pounds, and be able to reach above the shoulder (65 inches)
U.S. citizenship is required
Position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance, if needed
