RRC - Engineering Specialist I - Oil and Gas Field Inspector - Midland (Ector & Midland Counties)
The Railroad Commission of Texas is a state agency that regulates the oil and natural gas industry. They are seeking a Field Inspector to perform technical field inspections in oilfield operations, ensuring compliance with statewide rules and regulations.

Responsibilities
Observe drilling operations and conduct drilling rig inspections for compliance with statewide rules
Inspect well plugging and witness surface casing cementing to ensure protection of the State’s usable quality water
Document mechanical integrity tests associated with injection and disposal wells to ensure compliance with permit restrictions
Inspect commercial recycling and surface waste facilities to ensure compliance with permit specifications
Conduct general lease inspections to ensure overall compliance with statewide rules
Perform and analyze fluid level tests on wells to ensure protection of the State’s usable quality water
Gauge storage at the lease battery to determine the amounts of oil, condensate and produced water on location
Utilize gauge lines, color cut, and other testing equipment (i.e., chloride test kit) for titration of fluids
Investigate well complaints, document findings, and submit detailed reporting forms
Collect and correlate engineering and geological data
Excavate and collect soil samples to a depth of 30 inches or more to locate lines
Respond to emergency hydrogen sulfide (H2S) situations, make inspections, and report findings to District Office management, which may result in an activation of an Emergency Response Plan
Compose and submit reports and documentation in the prescribed timeline using Oracle and/or Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, and Outlook
Communicate technical information to industry employees and the public
Walk up to two miles, in various weather conditions, to complete inspections
Perform related essential tasks, as assigned, to maintain workflow
May occasionally have to work nights, weekends. or holidays
Qualification
Required
High school diploma/GED
Four years of experience in engineering or the oil & gas industry
Experience and education may be substituted, on a year-for-year basis
Applicant must live in, or be willing to move to, Ector & Midland Counties, Texas
Preferred
Experience in engineering or the oil & gas industry
B.S. in Engineering, geology, or other scientific degree from an accredited four-year college or university OR
Associate's Degree or technical certification from an accredited technical institute/college
