Paralegal
The City of Richmond is seeking a Paralegal for its Civil Litigation Division to assist attorneys with matters in federal and state courts. The role involves managing multiple assignments, conducting legal research, preparing documents, and coordinating legal actions.

Responsibilities
Prepares various documents related to cases; gathers information; writes, edits, and prepares documents for authorization; prepares and files pleadings, motions, orders, notices, and briefs in Richmond Circuit Court and General District Court; prepares orders of confirmation and distribution; prepares acknowledgement letters for claimants
Maintains files for open cases; prepares and submits documents; opens and closes files
Coordinates the schedule of City Attorney and opens litigation cases; contacts necessary internal and external departments
Qualification
Required
Paralegal certificate
Associates degree in Paralegal Studies
Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies or other discipline; or
An equivalent combination of education and experience
Strong written and verbal skills
Experience in civil litigation law is desired
Preferred
Experience with civil litigation, federal and state courts, or municipal law
Experience with drafting orders, preparing discovery, scheduling legal actions
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
Strong ability to conduct legal research
Strong ability to communicate with various internal and external departments
Keen ability to pay attention to details and ability to remain organized
Strong oral and written communication skills
Considerable knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Office Suite
