The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented intern to support the Reference and Public Services team at the Margaret Herrick Library. This internship provides hands-on experience in reference and research services while learning about the library’s databases and collections.

Responsibilities

Assist with external reference queries via email, phone, and in person at the Library's reference desk

Assist with creating and editing Reference Department LibGuides for internal staff use

Assist with filing and refiling Research and Duplication Services orders

Participate in project-based work aligned with the intern's own interests and the needs of the department, as available

Required

Currently enrolled in an ALA-accredited Master's degree program in library and information science or moving image studies

A minimum of 3.0 GPA

Knowledge of and interest in the film industry and film history, with a broad awareness of independent features, foreign language cinema, and current releases

Familiarity with library systems, content management systems, and digital asset management systems

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently and collaboratively

Demonstrates attention to detail, self-motivation, and effective problem-solving skills

Full vaccination against COVID-19 is required, including any booster vaccinations as applicable

Preferred

A bachelor's degree in film studies, history, art history, or a related field is preferred

Coursework or experience in advanced searching tools, digital preservation, and metadata schemas preferred
