EHS Engineer
Howmet Aerospace is seeking an EHS Engineer for their Whitehall Operations in Michigan. This role is essential for coordinating safety-related activities and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, while providing a platform for future growth within the company.

Responsibilities
Work in conjunction with other members of the EHS Department to coordinate safety-related activities, detecting and monitoring plant conditions that may adversely affect the safety and health of employees and/or violate applicable laws
Completes plant audits and program assessments, recommends corrective measures and prepares written reports on findings
Participates in incident investigations to determine the 'root cause', provides recommendations to address identified gaps and ensure the implementation of appropriate changes to prevent future occurrences
Conduct employee training programs
Assess and monitor site compliance with all applicable local, State and Federal environmental regulations and work with plant personnel to ensure compliance
Assist with location fatality prevention efforts including helping to lead deployment and execution of key fatality prevention elements and coaching location leaders
Partner with location leadership to deliver EHS objectives
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in safety or occupational health, industrial hygiene or related field discipline from an accredited institution
Previous internship, co-op experience, or previous work experience in a manufacturing environment
Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
Preferred
Professional certification preferred (GSP Graduate or ASP)
Must have a good working knowledge of applicable laws and regulations regarding workplace safety, health and industrial hygiene
Strong communication skills (written and oral)
Good PC skills with a good working knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, Excel and etc
Good program management skills
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
