NEOGOV is seeking candidates for the Information Technology Database Administrator position within Shasta County's Information Technology Department. Responsibilities
Under supervision, to provide administration, technical support for, and management of SQL Server databases and related systems at Shasta County; to provide excellent customer service; and to perform related work as required
Under general direction, provide administration, planning, technical support for, and management of SQL Server databases and related systems at Shasta County; to provide excellent customer service; and to perform related work as required
Learn and perform a variety of tasks related to SQL Server database administration; research and respond to staff and management technical inquiries concerning SQL Server database management system (DBMS) environments; participate in the evaluation of available database hardware and software and facilitates adoption discussions; provide input on hardware, software, and other costs; participate in DBMS upgrades; develop, implement and maintains database backup and recovery procedures to ensure data integrity, security, and recoverability of data; prepare and implement business continuity and disaster recovery planning as it relates to SQL Server databases; develop, acquire, install, and maintain database performance measuring and reporting systems; analyze performance data to determine need for modification or addition to system configuration to meet current and future needs; confer and consult with management and other technical staff and vendors as required; create and maintain database documentation; participate in database security and security strategies; consider security at each phase of planning and design; participate in capacity planning to ensure that the database infrastructure is designed for current needs and future expansion; represent database support at meetings; work closely with development team to assist with design and implementation of SQL Server databases for complex business applications; assist with interface implementation to other systems; confer with IT management to ensure that proposed solutions are appropriate; perform other related projects and tasks as required/assigned
Perform a variety of complex tasks related to SQL Server database administration; research and respond to staff and management technical inquiries concerning SQL Server database management system (DBMS) environments; participate in the evaluation of available database hardware and software and facilitates adoption discussions; provide input on hardware, software, training and other costs; participate in DBMS upgrades; provide project and or team leadership for SQL Server implementations; develop, implement and maintain database backup and recovery procedures to ensure data integrity, security, and recoverability of data; prepare and implement business continuity and disaster recovery planning as it relates to SQL Server databases; develop, acquire, install and maintain database performance measuring and reporting systems; analyze performance data to determine need for modification or addition to system configuration to meet current and future needs; confer and consult with management and other technical staff and vendors as required; create and maintain database documentation; understand and implement database security and security strategies; consider security at each phase of planning and design; conduct capacity planning to ensure that the database infrastructure is designed for current needs and future expansion; represent database support at meetings; provide technical database training as required; work closely with development team to assist with design and implementation of SQL Server databases for complex business applications; assist with interface implementation to other systems; confer with IT Supervisor (in charge of databases) to ensure that proposed solutions are appropriate; perform other related projects and tasks as required/assigned
Qualification
Required
Three (3) years of database administrator experience
Possession of a valid California driver's license
Preferred
SQL Server certification is preferred
One (1) year of database application development desired
