Responsibilities
Execute a high-impact modeling project supporting Anti-Money Laundering (AML) or other critical Compliance areas
Daily activities mirror the professional data science lifecycle within a regulated banking environment, including model design, data collection and exploration, feature engineering, model optimization, testing, and documentation
Qualification
Required
Enrolled in an accredited US-based university (working towards a Master's degree) with an expected graduation date of December 2026 or Spring 2027
Must be working towards a STEM degree
Must be returning to school for at least one quarter or semester after the internship
Have no more than 12 months of professional full-time work experience (excluding internships and research assistant roles)
Must be willing to relocate to San Francisco Bay Area and be available to work in the San Francisco office at a hybrid capacity (2-3x a week)
Proficiency in SQL, Python and Python libraries supporting ML
Experience with machine learning model development
Analytical mindset - the ability to look at a data set and identify patterns, outliers, or inconsistencies
Solid writing skills to help draft technical reports and model development summaries
Preferred
Exposure to specific ML techniques relevant to compliance, such as Anomaly Detection, Natural Language Processing (NLP), or Network Analysis
Familiarity with cloud-based data environments (such as AWS) or big data frameworks like PySpark
