Fishery Biologist 2 (Bristol Bay Westside Assistant Area Management Biologist - PCN 115187)
The Alaska Department of Fish and Game is recruiting for a Fishery Biologist 2 located in Dillingham. This role involves assisting in the management of herring and salmon commercial and subsistence fisheries, overseeing operations of tower camps, and making management decisions for specific districts.

Responsibilities
Assist in the management of herring and salmon commercial and subsistence fisheries
Oversee the operation of 3 tower camps
Help with aerial surveys
Make and communicate management decisions for the Nushagak and Togiak Districts
Qualification
Required
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college in biology, a branch of biology, limnology, biometrics, oceanography, forestry, fisheries science, or natural resource management
One year of professional experience as a biologist or fish culturist
A valid Alaska Driver's license
Use and possession of firearms and ammunition
Extensive travel in small aircraft
Operation of outboard skiffs
Experience/ eagerness to learn about and pursue a career in managing sustainable fisheries
Experience/ eagerness to learn about managing remote Alaskan field projects, including project logistics, budget management, supervision, and reporting
Experience with patience and understanding to communicate with stakeholders as individuals and groups
Familiarity with the Alaska Board of Fisheries processes
Experience or eagerness with aerial surveys for salmon or herring
