IT Specialist(App Developer/Integration Architect)

The Department of Health (DC Health) is dedicated to promoting health, wellness, and equity across the District. The IT Specialist (Application Developer/Integration Architect) will collaborate with various stakeholders to design application and database systems, ensuring security and compliance, while leading the development of integration architecture for critical data management.

Responsibilities

Designing, documenting, upgrading, and enhancing enterprise data models to support critical applications and services
Ensuring adherence to government laws and regulations
Safeguarding information and computer systems
Troubleshooting and resolving application and integration-related issues
Defining infrastructure for application design and integration cloud-based systems
Confirming application architecture capability and flexibility to support high availability web/cloud applications
Improving application architecture by evaluating emerging technologies and their applicability to business goals and operational requirements
Contributing to strategic plans
Preparing action plans
Implementing production and quality standards
Collaborating with senior management to understand information requirements and prioritize development tasks
Defining infrastructure for application and integration design
Confirming application capability
Improving architecture by evaluating and implementing emerging technologies

Qualification

Required

Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks
Individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below: Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail
Customer Service - Works with clients and customers
Oral Communication - Expresses information to individuals or groups effectively
Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, one (1) year of specialized experience must be equivalent to at least the next lower grade in the normal line of progression
