Responsibilities
Performs a variety of routine laboratory support procedures including order entry, specimen/material pick-up, transportation, tracking, receipt, and processing
Utilizes a variety of information systems to perform tasks
Operates and maintains pre and post analytic laboratory equipment which may include laboratory automation
May perform occasional phlebotomy service if required at that site
Interacts with patients, laboratory staff and caregivers in a courteous and professional manner
Qualification
Required
High school graduate or equivalent required
Strong computer skills; Microsoft Office Suite or similar software
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and demonstrate exceptional customer service skills required
For positions requiring phlebotomy, a minimum of two months training and experience in Phlebotomy is required
For assignments requiring travel off-site, candidates must possess and maintain a valid Michigan motor vehicle license and reliable transportation with insurance
Preferred
Experience in a medical setting, hospital or clinic laboratory preferred
Familiarity with medical terminology and human anatomy preferred
Candidate with college-level course work in science preferred
