Applied Scientist II, Locomotion, Amazon Industrial Robotics
Amazon Industrial Robotics is seeking exceptional talent to help develop the next generation of advanced robotics systems that will transform automation at Amazon's scale. This role involves implementing and optimizing control algorithms for robot locomotion, supporting the development of behaviors for traversing diverse terrain, and collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams on loco-manipulation tasks.

Responsibilities
Implement and optimize control algorithms for robot locomotion
Support development of behaviors that enable robots to traverse diverse terrain
Contribute to methods that integrate stability, locomotion, and manipulation tasks
Help create dynamics models and simulations that enable sim2real transfer of algorithms
Collaborate effectively with multi-disciplinary teams on hardware and algorithms for loco-manipulation
Qualification
Required
PhD, or Master's degree and 4+ years of CS, CE, ML or related field experience
Foundation in robot dynamics and control theory
Experience with model-predictive control and reinforcement learning for locomotion
Experience with simulation environments such as IsaacLab, Mujoco, Drake, etc
Experience with developing and deploying code for real-time controllers
Preferred
Experience with Java, C++, or other programming languages
Experience working effectively across cross-functional teams and partnering well with people at all levels within an organization
PhD in Robotics with a focus on locomotion
Experience with low-level joint torque/impedance control
Experience with robotics frameworks for fast prototyping (Matlab, ROS, etc.)
