System Engineer

Responsibilities
Deploy advanced technical solutions to include new infrastructure builds, network modernization, system upgrades, cloud integrations, and practice expansions
Execute complex server migrations, cloud transitions (O365, Azure), and infrastructure redesigns with detailed planning and post-implementation documentation
Build, configure, and support:
Windows Servers (physical & virtual)
Domain Controllers, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS/DHCP
VMware ESXi, Hyper-V, and Azure Virtual Machines
File/print servers, application servers, and RDS/AVD environments
Install and configure multi-site networks including:
VLANs and subnetting
Switch stacks
Wireless networks
Firewalls (Fortinet / WatchGuard preferred)
Design and deploy high-availability infrastructure, clustering, redundancy, and disaster recovery solutions
Support the creation and modification of Group Policies to enforce security, standardization, and compliance
Provide engineering-level troubleshooting for advanced applications, integrations, and server workloads
You will serve as a dental IT subject matter expert responsible for advanced support, deployment, and troubleshooting of clinical technologies across dental practices
Install, configure, and troubleshoot dental imaging hardware:
Intraoral sensors
Intraoral cameras
Intraoral scanners
CBCT / Pano / Ceph extraoral imaging devices
Vitals monitoring devices
Troubleshoot complex dental imaging workflows including acquisition errors, TWAIN issues, sensor calibration, and multi-device interoperability
Deploy dental practice management systems and imaging platforms (Dentrix, Eaglesoft, OpenDental, Dexis, etc., if applicable)
Serve as a technical escalation point during the project for imaging, radiology systems, and hardware-to-software communication failures
Coordinate with dental vendors to resolve hardware failures, licensing issues, imaging software configuration, firmware updates, and clinical workflow escalations on behalf of clients
Ensure environment compliance with HIPAA, dental-record security principles, and required safeguarding controls
Document infrastructure changes, project work, and configuration details with a high level of clarity and accuracy
Maintain and update environment documentation including network diagrams, asset inventories, runbooks, and SOPs
Provide detailed notes and time entries on all project and support tasks
Identify recurring issues or risks and escalate to management with recommendations for long-term resolution
Contribute to internal knowledge bases and provide training or guidance to colleagues
Maintain technical proficiency across Microsoft, network, cloud, virtualization, and security technologies
Stay current on the latest dental imaging hardware, vendor integrations, and clinical technology advancements
Pursue relevant certifications to strengthen expertise and delivery quality
Qualification
Required
Core Engineering Experience (3–7 Years)
Advanced knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, GPOs, Windows Server roles, and M365
Strong networking knowledge including routing, switching, VLANs, wireless, and firewall configuration
Experience with virtualization (VMware ESXi, Hyper-V, Azure)
Strong experience deploying, upgrading, and troubleshooting complex infrastructures
2–4 years supporting dental practices or clinical dental environments
Hands-on experience with intraoral sensors, cameras, scanners, CBCT/Pano/Ceph devices
Understanding of dental imaging workflows, PACS-style environments, and exam room technology
Experience coordinating with dental vendors for escalations and support
Ability to lift 50–75 pounds and work in tight clinical spaces as needed
Ability to bend, kneel, crawl, or climb during equipment installation
Ability to sit/drive for extended periods
Fast-paced environment with competing priorities
Ability to work unsupervised and manage onsite engagements professionally
Preferred
Strong PowerShell or automation experience preferred
MSP experience
Microsoft Role-Based Certifications (AZ-104, AZ-305, MD-102, etc.)
CCNA/CCNP, VCP, ITIL
Experience with Autopilot, Intune, automation, or ConnectWise
Dental software experience (Dentrix, Eaglesoft, OpenDental, Dexis, etc.)
