Responsibilities

Review financial provisions of engagement letters to confirm accuracy, completeness, and compliance with firm standards and approved templates
Analyze proposed billing arrangements, including hourly, alternative fee, capped, and discounted structures, to ensure alignment with firm policy and approvals
Verify that engagement terms match matter intake submissions and approved pricing or fee arrangements
Identify issues or inconsistencies in engagement letters or billing terms and work with attorneys and internal stakeholders to resolve them
Ensure required approvals are obtained for non-standard engagement terms or billing arrangements
Work seamlessly across functional department teams including Intake/Conflicts, Finance (Billing and Pricing), Practice Management, and Marketing to support timely matter opening and knowledge management
Maintain accurate records of engagement letters, approvals, and billing terms in firm systems
Track intake requests and follow up to meet internal service level expectations
Support process improvements, standardization efforts, and data integrity initiatives related to intake and engagement management
Create summary descriptions of client/matter engagement terms for attorneys, finance and billing/collections teams and for firm knowledge management, including any flagging any key areas of focus such as key time entry procedures
Conduct financial analysis of proposed/existing matter fee arrangements to determine the profitability and realization impact of proposed and new arrangements

Required

Bachelor's degree required
2-5 years of experience in a law firm or similar professional services environment, with exposure to engagement letters, billing, pricing, or matter intake
Proficiency with matter intake, billing, and document management systems (e.g., Intapp Open, Elite 3E, Aderant, or similar)
Expert Excel modeling skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and succinctly with a variety of stakeholders both verbally and in writing
Strong attention to detail and ability to review complex documents for accuracy and consistency
Familiarity with law firm billing models and alternative fee arrangements
Ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously and meet deadlines
