The Office of the Loudoun County Commissioner of the Revenue is seeking a Commercial Supervising Appraiser to manage the commercial appraiser team, ensuring efficient and fair assessment practices while supervising personnel and handling valuation assignments.

Responsibilities

Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the commercial appraiser team

Use and defend commercial valuation practices including the collection and processing of data related to sales and construction costs

Understand and reconstruct income and expense surveys

Direct the maintenance of required files and records

Prepare reports, correspondence and other written materials

Supervise and train assigned personnel

Complete any valuation assignment

Required

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in a field related to Real Estate Appraisal, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration

Four (4) years of progressive assessment and appraisal experience

Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of complex real property appraisal for real property tax assessment purposes

Knowledge of applicable laws, codes and regulations

Knowledge of computer applications related to assessment work

Knowledge of standard office administrative practices and procedures

Knowledge of methods and techniques of property ownership research and investigation

Knowledge of record keeping principles and practices

Techniques for dealing with the public

Ability to establish effective working relationships with fellow employees, County officials, members of the business community and the public

Knowledge of Virginia taxation law and county regulations governing the appraisal of commercial, industrial, residential and special purpose properties

Ability to manage a high-volume workload

Ability to deal effectively with management

Ability to assist internal and external customers as required

Ability to resolve conflicts

Ability to work in various outdoor weather conditions

Ability to traverse undeveloped land and tour construction sites

Occasional bending, stooping and light lifting may be required

Must maintain a valid driver's license in Virginia or regional state of residence
