Responsibilities
Compiling and coordinating annual O&M budget and ensuring the budget is prepared and completed in accordance with SNC's goals
Compiling and reporting monthly analysis of actual-to-projection data and end-of-year projections, along with monthly close-out duties
This position is also responsible for effective communication of budgets, projections, initiatives, and results to management
This position interacts regularly with management and department leads regarding budget and financial issues, placing emphasis on sound internal controls
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (required)
Minimum 1 year of experience in financial/accounting disciplines including planning, analysis, and budgeting
Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Experience in operational accounting, budgeting, and cost control (nuclear generation, transmission, distribution, manufacturing is a plus)
Strong analytical, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Preferred
CPA, MBA, or advanced degree in a related field (preferred)
3+ years of experience preferred
Familiarity with utility accounting and FERC requirements (preferred)
Understanding of Southern Company's business model and Alabama Power/Georgia Power ratemaking mechanisms (a plus)
