Facilities Electrical Engineer II
Panasonic Energy Corporation of North America is expanding to De Soto, Kansas, where they are building the world’s largest lithium-ion battery factory. The Facilities Electrical Engineer II will oversee the full lifecycle of power distribution systems, providing operational leadership and ensuring compliance with codes and regulations while managing contractors and coordinating projects.

Responsibilities
Lead planning, design, installation, modification, and commissioning of power distribution systems for new construction, upgrades, and renovations
Serve as system owner for facility electrical operations, including load balancing, arc flash studies, and power quality analysis
Maintain and manage electrical system documentation, including as-built drawings and design specifications
Analyze electrical system usage through monitoring and power management software
Expands technical depth; handles moderately complex problems
Manages workstreams or small projects
Audit power distribution systems and implement corrective actions to improve reliability, safety, and efficiency
Manage and support energy efficiency and load optimization programs
Evaluate equipment performance and recommend system upgrades, replacements, or expansions
Solves moderately complex problems with limited guidance
Suggests improvements to designs or processes
Guide and support maintenance and engineering staff through technical leadership and subject-matter expertise
Develop and oversee operating procedures, troubleshooting guides, and corrective action plans
Provide 24/7 technical support for facility electrical systems
Shares knowledge with peers
Develop project plans, budgets, and schedules while coordinating contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders
Provide engineering consulting, feasibility studies, and installation packages for electrical system hook-ups, relocations, and demolitions
Manage electrical projects from design through safe shutdown and execution, ensuring coordination across departments
Collaborate across engineering disciplines and Panasonic sites to share best practices and standardize approaches
Communicates with cross-functional partners
Uses sound judgment on moderately complex issues
Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards, including NEC, NFPA, and other regulatory requirements
Manage permits, inspections, and regulatory coordination for electrical projects
Influence supplier and contractor performance through audits, oversight, and field evaluations
Ensure all work is executed safely and in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering field
2+ years of experience in operation/engineering of mission critical facilities and infrastructure (electrical design, installation, commissioning, inspection, fire/life safety systems)
Skills and experience necessary to satisfy the required 'Essential Duties'
Strong technical leadership with excellent organizational and verbal skills
Knowledge of and comfort with Microsoft Office Suite software including Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint
Ability and proficiency in collecting, analyzing, and presenting technical information to non-technical audiences
Able to manage multiple concurrent tasks in a fast-paced environment, effectively prioritize work, and deliver quality results
Self-starter who works well independently and an outstanding ability to follow up with minimal direction by seeking answers and a focus on team success
Able to make appropriate decisions when confronted with obstacles, think about them before acting, and consistently resolve issues in creative and effective ways
A strong work ethic with a 'get the job done' approach and consistently delivers excellent customer service, both internally and externally
Intuitive, adaptable, creative, and collaborative with excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English
Preferred
4+ years of experience in operation/engineering of mission critical facilities and infrastructure (electrical design, installation, commissioning, inspection, fire/life safety systems)
Experience managing multi-discipline projects
Able to respond quickly to potentially critical situations, perform rapid, accurate assessments, identify causes of failures, determine appropriate corrective actions, and implement these corrections promptly to mitigate the effects of system upsets
Proficient with PC hardware and windows-based applications
