Responsibilities
Define and communicate the long-term vision for the Avionics Design Group
Collaborate with program engineering managers and leads to ensure the necessary people, processes, and tools are in place to meet business demands
Oversee and guide design and test engineering activities, workload management, and performance management within the ADG engineering team
Serve as a direct contributor while managing the responsibilities of managers, leads, engineers, and technicians to achieve organizational objectives
Forecast manpower requirements and conduct quarterly and annual performance reviews for the team
Recruit and hire talented engineering staff to meet evolving business needs
Develop and oversee critical skills enhancement initiatives for the design team
Foster a motivated and engaged team environment; contribute positively to team objectives
Mentor and train engineers in electrical engineering principles and test standards
Deliver high-quality internal and external customer service, going above and beyond expectations
Collaborate with the engineering team to identify root causes of problems and propose effective solutions
Ensure compliance with all established processes and procedures, including design and test standards, safety protocols, 5S, FOD (Foreign Object Damage) prevention, and more
Evaluate and implement Lean/Agile methodologies to streamline processes and reduce cycle times
Lead or identify continuous improvement initiatives within the department
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and nine (9) years of related work experience, or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with seven (7) years of experience
Minimum of five (5) years of team management experience
Hands-on experience in circuit board design for military and/or space environments
Proven track record in leading diverse engineering teams, attracting and developing top talent, and managing functional team responsibilities
Familiarity with functional management tools and processes such as staffing, engineering metrics, training, and standard operating procedures
Strong leadership, influence, and people management skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage with employees, management, and customers at all levels
U.S. Citizenship
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance
Proficient in company-specific electrical engineering technical standards
Broad technical understanding of and experience in related engineering disciplines
Strong technical writing and documentation skills
Expertise in digital and analog circuit design
Solid understanding of PWB (Printed Wiring Board) layout and library management
Basic knowledge of programming and configurable logic
Ability to perform circuit analysis, simulations, and troubleshooting tasks
Experience in acceptance and qualification testing of electronics for aerospace and military applications
Familiarity with design of automated test equipment
Familiar with Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Fault Trees, and Design of Experiments (DOE)
Skilled in data analysis to identify trends suggesting poor part performance or degradation
Preferred
Experience with CAM350 and DFM (Design for Manufacturing) scripting
Familiarity with VHDL design and verification
Demonstrated problem-solving abilities in team-oriented environments
Proven success in technical mentoring and skills development
Strong time management and multitasking abilities
Ability to influence and lead teams toward success
Self-motivated with the ability to make independent decisions
Detail-oriented, team player with strong interpersonal skills
Experience managing internal relationships, delegating tasks, and setting priorities effectively
Active DoD Secret Clearance
