Senior/Principal Electronics Engineer - High Assurance Product Realization, NM/CA, Onsite
Sandia National Laboratories is the nation’s premier science and engineering lab for national security and technology innovation, with teams of specialists focused on cutting-edge work in a broad array of areas. They are seeking an experienced Electronics Engineer to design, develop and support high assurance electronic products, playing a key role in the development and deployment of advanced technologies for next-generation weapon systems. The role involves collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams and requires onsite work in either NM or CA.

Responsibilities
Playing a key role in development, maturation, and deployment of advanced technologies for next-generation weapon systems and support equipment
Working with multi-disciplinary teams of electrical, mechanical, software, systems, and test engineers in the design and qualification of products
Design of FPGA/ASIC based digital and analog circuits, and integration with commercial off the shelf microcontrollers, memories, and peripherals using existing standards-based communications protocols
Collaborating with and advising technologists who work in a lab environment
Qualification
Required
A Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline and five (5) years of directly relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of directly relevant education and engineering or scientific experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform independent research and development
Ability to acquire a DOE Q level security clearance
Preferred
Graduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a highly related field where an independent research project was a graduation requirement (e.g., independent project, thesis, or dissertation)
Demonstrated experience with analog and digital circuit design and analysis
Hands-on experience testing and de-bugging circuitry, with clear mastery of tools such as oscilloscopes, logic/network/spectrum analyzers, function/pulse generators, etc
Proven experience with design and analysis tools (e.g., Matlab and LabVIEW), analog simulation codes (e.g., LTSpice), and HDL simulation codes (e.g., ModelSim)
Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams
Experience with at least one electrical software tools such as VHDL, Mentor Graphics, ORCAD, Altium Designer, Cadence PSPICE, etc
Experience with cryptography hardware and firmware design
Experience in VHDL, Verilog, C, C++, and/or custom ASIC design
Electrical and environmental qualification testing and documentation experience
Experience in production processes and design for manufacturability
Experience with JMP, MATLAB, or other data aggregation and statistical analysis toolsets
Experience with configuration management tools
Nuclear Weapon and/or Use Control design experience. Or an understanding of the history of the Nuclear Weapons complex
Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams
