Responsibilities
Drafts and edits national and state level underwriting communications
Assists with the tracking, monitoring and analysis of legislative activity in all 50 states that relate to the conveyance and mortgaging of real estate. Provide underwriting leadership with recommendations regarding the pending legislation
Drafts and edits policy manuals, rate manuals and similar documents filed with various regulatory bodies
Provides guidance to local underwriting leadership regarding form and rate manuals
Review and assess court decisions that affect the conveyance and mortgaging of real estate
Collects and collates legal research and information from a wide variety of sources
Performs research and analysis on supporting data and information needed regarding various business issues of the organization
Compiles data from legal digests, encyclopedias, practice manuals, etc
Assists with the development and coordination of state-level advocacy strategies
Assembles, proofs, and edits drafts of underwriting communications, advocacy strategies, legal research presentations , etc
Drafts documents for rate and form filings and provides guidance on rate and form matters
Provides other administrative support to underwriting department
Qualification
Required
3–5 years of professional experience as a Paralegal
Outstanding writing and editing skills
Intermediate Excel proficiency required
Ability to adapt to new technology tools for collaboration and information sharing
General knowledge of the legislative process
Strong research and summarization skills
Detail-oriented with excellent time management
Exceptional communication, presentation, and organizational skills
Preferred
Bachelor's degree preferred
Completion of a paralegal program preferred
Paralegal certification preferred
