Responsibilities

Develop rapport with death-sentenced clients
Investigate, draft, and present motions for post-conviction relief in state court
Litigate access to public records
Conduct evidentiary hearings in state circuit court
File and argue appeals in the Florida Supreme Court
File Petitions for Writs of Habeas Corpus in the federal district courts
Handle appeals in the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court
Work closely with investigators to clients’ friends and family members
Identify documents to collect
Review trial evidence
Work with experts to develop mitigation themes and challenge forensic evidence

Candidates must be able to work independently and take initiative

Candidates must be able to organize work and set priorities to meet critical state and federal court deadlines
This position may require travel
This position may require occasionally working beyond business hours, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays
