Student Data Analyst

The University of New Mexico’s Center for Geospatial and Population Studies is seeking a detail-oriented Student Data Analyst to assist in maintaining New Mexico's traffic crash database. The role involves data analysis, data entry, verification, and geospatial analysis while providing students with real-life job skills and training opportunities.

Responsibilities

Contribute expertise in areas such as data analysis, data entry, verification, geocoding, and publishing of traffic crash data
Provide support and routine maintenance of the traffic crash database
Expand analysis or programming skills solving real-world problems
Participate in data collection, GIS, and data analysis work using traffic crash data
Follow instructions and adhere to protocols and procedures
Work as a team member with staff and/or other student employees on various projects
Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned

Required

Enrolled in a degree seeking program at UNM, at least half-time (6 hours)
Can work a minimum of 10-20 hours a week
Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information
Ability to follow instructions and adhere to protocols and procedures
Attention to detail
Works as a team member with staff and/or other student employees on various projects
Willing to perform miscellaneous duties as assigned

Preferred

Work Study students
Interest in database systems, spreadsheets and data analysis
Proficiency in at least one data analysis programming language (e.g., R, Python, SAS, SQL, VBA) through coursework, projects, or work experience
Proven experience with data input, validation, and error correction processes
Applied knowledge of qualitative and/or quantitative research procedures
Prior experience or formal training in ArcGIS or ArcPro is preferred
Experience with statistical data analysis, data processing, and trend analysis
