Responsibilities

Direct programs and activities of Public Health and Occupational Health within the Medical Treatment Facility, ensuring compliance with legal requirements, developing goals and objectives, and liaising with other organizations and/or customers
Develop Public Health policies and procedures that support Public Health missions, making recommendations to improve quality, timeliness, and efficiency of work
Conduct supervisory functions such as planning/assigning work and deadlines, preparing schedules, evaluating employee performance, handling grievances or minor disciplinary actions, identifying training needs, and selecting candidates for vacancies
Oversee funding management to identify requirements and initiate requests for additional resources, personnel, overtime, equipment, supplies, and space
Solve customer problems by researching issues, creating reports, and recommending appropriate action

Required

Bachelor's or graduate (or higher level) degree with major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position
One year of specialized experience which includes conducting public health activities and programs such as food safety, security and sanitation inspections, disease prevention, medical readiness, or promoting health education and training
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Public Health or Health Policy and Management
A Personnel Security Investigation is required
This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment
One-year supervisory probationary period required
Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption
Tuberculin (TB) test is required
Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact
Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross
