Water Program Specialist

NEOGOV is seeking a Water Program Specialist to join the Department of Environmental Protection. The role involves ensuring compliance with the Safe Drinking Water Program and providing technical assistance and training related to drinking water regulations.

Responsibilities

Responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of the surveillance, compliance, enforcement, data management, and operational evaluation elements of the Commonwealth’s statewide SDW Program to ensure uniform program compliance
Interpreting assignments, rules, regulations, and procedures, and providing technical assistance to employees, federal and state agencies, professional organizations, and the public relating to the SDW Program
Serve as the liaison with the Department of Health’s toxicologists to identify and evaluate available risk assessment and health advisory information for regulated and unregulated contaminants in drinking water
Provide comprehensive training to field staff and the regulated community regarding new regulations and other technical topics to improve implementation of, and compliance with, the drinking water program
Participate in a wide-range of meetings, conferences, hearings, and other public forums to explain a variety of existing and new state or federal regulations

Required

Three years of professional environmental protection experience; and a bachelor's degree in the biological, physical, or environmental sciences, engineering, or in a field closely related to environmental protection or regulation; or An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes three years of professional environmental protection experience
You must meet the PA residency requirement
You must be able to perform essential job functions
