Child Support Specialist III -Promotional
NEOGOV is seeking a Child Support Specialist III for the County of Sonoma's Department of Child Support Services. The role involves training and mentoring junior staff, processing legal documents, and providing customer service to case participants while implementing process improvements.

Responsibilities
Processing legal documents and payments
Preparing court orders, child support forms, letters, and other correspondence
Preparing files for attorneys and attending court with attorneys
Providing excellent customer service to case participants and stakeholders by resolving issues and complaints as they arise
Interviewing case participants
Negotiating with private counsel and parents (case participants)
Creating written procedures and implementing process improvements
Qualification
Required
Currently a full or part-time regular or probationary County of Sonoma, Community Development Commission, Sonoma County Fairgrounds, or Sonoma County Water Agency employee
One year of full-time experience as a Child Support Officer II with Sonoma County or equivalent position in another county
Academic course work which relates to the knowledge and abilities listed, including courses in investigation, interviewing, paralegal or legal assistant and social and behavioral sciences
Possession of a valid California Driver's License
Ability to speak, read and write Spanish fluently may be required for certain job assignments
Excellent organizational skills
Strong attention to detail
Negotiation and interviewing skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe
Effective communication skills both written and verbal
Proven ability to gather and analyze data and create reports
Ability to remain calm to assist individuals who may be uncooperative, confused, and frustrated
