Subject Matter Expert - Systems Engineer
SD Solutions, LLC is seeking a Systems Engineering Subject Matter Expert to support the Director of Systems Integration and Chief Acquisition Officer in investment decisions and major systems acquisition program management. The role involves applying advanced systems engineering principles, leading requirements development, and overseeing system integration and verification activities.

Responsibilities
Apply advanced systems engineering principles to support design, development, integration, and lifecycle management of complex systems
Ensure alignment with industry standards, government regulations, and SOW specifications
Lead requirements elicitation, decomposition, and traceability activities
Validate system requirements against operational needs and performance objectives
Develop and review system architectures, interface definitions, and technical specifications
Provide recommendations for system improvements and optimization
Oversee system integration planning and execution
Support verification and validation activities to ensure compliance with functional and performance requirements
Identify technical risks and propose mitigation strategies
Conduct trade studies and impact analyses for design decisions
Participate in technical reviews, briefings, and working groups with government and contractor teams
Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations
Advise on sustainment strategies, configuration management, and system upgrades
Ensure systems engineering processes are applied throughout the project lifecycle
Qualification
Required
Background check, US citizenship, and a CAC are requirements for this position
Systems Engineering Expertise: Apply advanced systems engineering principles to support design, development, integration, and lifecycle management of complex systems
Ensure alignment with industry standards, government regulations, and SOW specifications
Requirements Development & Analysis: Lead requirements elicitation, decomposition, and traceability activities
Validate system requirements against operational needs and performance objectives
Architecture & Design Support: Develop and review system architectures, interface definitions, and technical specifications
Provide recommendations for system improvements and optimization
Integration & Verification: Oversee system integration planning and execution
Support verification and validation activities to ensure compliance with functional and performance requirements
Risk Management: Identify technical risks and propose mitigation strategies
Conduct trade studies and impact analyses for design decisions
Stakeholder Engagement: Participate in technical reviews, briefings, and working groups with government and contractor teams
Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations
Lifecycle Support: Advise on sustainment strategies, configuration management, and system upgrades
Ensure systems engineering processes are applied throughout the project lifecycle
Minimum 8–10 years of experience in systems engineering for complex projects
Experience with federal acquisition programs and compliance requirements
Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams
Strong documentation and presentation capabilities
Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
Preferred
Minimum 5 years of experience on ACAT 1 acquisitions programs as defined by the Major Systems Acquisition Manual (MSAM) highly desirable
Experience with ship acquisition programs highly desirable
Master's degree preferred
INCOSE CSEP or ESEP preferred; PMP or equivalent a plus
