Development Associate

The Fund for American Studies (TFAS) is an educational nonprofit that develops courageous leaders inspired by the ideas of individual liberty and economic freedom. The Development Associate will manage key operational and engagement functions for the Development + Communications team, including donor outreach, gift processing, and database management.

Responsibilities

Donor Outreach Coordination: Assist Development + Communications team with supporter stewardship and supporter correspondence via mail, email or telephone as needed
Stewardship & Acknowledgment: Draft and mail supporter acknowledgement letters and coordinate additional supporter outreach mailings; ensuring timely follow-ups
Gift Processing & Data Management: Record gifts, pledges, and supporter interactions in internal CRM (Salesforce); coordinate reconciliation with Admin + Finance team to ensure accuracy
Database Management and Reporting: Support the Technology Manager to maintain audience database (Salesforce) by running reports as needed, updating contact information, conducting data analysis and ensuring that audience data is accurate and up to date
Prospect Research: Conduct research on new and prospective supporters as needed; run wealth screenings, summarize findings and identify major giving prospects
Event Management + Logistics: Assist with conferences, receptions and dinner events, including event prep, guest relations and post-event follow-up

Required

1–3+ years of office experience, preferably in development or fundraising
Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams. CRM experience (especially Salesforce) is a plus
Appreciation of and commitment to the mission and values of The Fund for American Studies (TFAS)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Organization, detail-oriented and able to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team
Bachelor's degree
