Responsibilities

Conduct complex scientific investigations in a foundational (basic) research laboratory in the Department of Pathology

Function as a specialist or technical expert in studying development and function of cortical interneurons

Collaborate with Principal Investigator (PI) to develop, manage and implement research projects

Plan, design, and conduct complex & advanced research

Plan and execute advanced molecular biological experiments

Extract, analyze & evaluate experimental data

Assist PI in research & development efforts of new research projects

Work closely with PI to determine and develop goals of projects

Develop and establish criteria & research standards to meet goals of research projects

Oversee appropriate maintenance of all laboratory equipment

Negotiate and oversee equipment service contracts and repairs

Participate in developing and implementing laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Safety Manual

Monitor, oversee & ensure compliance to local, state and federal laboratory health and safety rules, regulations and guidelines

Provide training of research staff in executing new research methods

Serve as a consultant to other investigators in area of expertise

Help to prepare for inspections (e.g. IACUC, IBC, and controlled substances)
