Energy Conservation Advisor
FortisBC is the province’s largest energy provider, dedicated to delivering renewable energy and sustainable solutions. The Energy Conservation Advisor is responsible for helping customers use energy efficiently and for achieving energy management targets by delivering energy management programs to commercial and industrial customers.

Responsibilities
Engage with commercial and industrial customers to familiarize them with Fortis’BC energy conservation programs and solutions
Develop and maintain strong relationships while influencing and assisting current and new customers in understanding their energy needs
Drive energy conservation participation by assisting and influencing customers to make decisions to proceed with projects
Regular customer engagement: multiple outbound calls to prospective and existing customers or external stakeholders
Develop and maintain a work plan to identify energy efficiency opportunities and implement energy management measures while promoting FortisBC rebate programs
Provide technical expertise for energy savings through new construction, equipment upgrades, or behavioural changes based on the industry sector
Deliver technical solutions and complete custom energy efficiency calculations for commercial and industrial customers
Support participation in the FortisBC rebate programs that result in energy and cost savings for customers in addition to a more sustainable business operation
Perform walk-through energy audits of customer facilities, identify energy conservation measures, and calculate savings for the proposed upgrades and measures
Provide updated reports and timely implementation of projects into DSM tracking systems of all potential, active and completed projects
Active engagement with external stakeholders, including trade allies, suppliers, developers and equipment manufacturers, to generate project leads and encourage implementation
Develop and maintain local market knowledge on new construction and facility upgrade activities
Establish and maintain strong relationships with all internal and external stakeholders as required
Participate in community events as required
Ensure effective resolution of all key customer problems/issues
Other duties and projects as assigned
Qualification
Required
Four-year Degree in Engineering, Energy Management, Technology, Environmental Science or a related field from an accredited post-secondary institution
Minimum of three (3) years of related experience in an energy/technology role, within which a minimum of one (1) year experience in sales or customer service
Certified or eligible for Energy Manager (CEM) certification
Excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills
Excellent customer service and customer relationship-building skills
Knowledge of energy use and energy conservation
Ability to perform an informal and formal needs assessment for customers
Comprehensive knowledge of computer systems including Word, Excel, MS Outlook and various virtual meeting platforms
Ability to build rapport with customers
Ability to work independently and within a team environment
Organizational skills and attention to detail
Excellent organizational skills, ability to manage a wide variety of tasks simultaneously with close attention to detail
Team player with emphasis on building relationships and partnerships
Excellent presentation and negotiation skills
Ability to keep current with Energy Management technologies and methods available
Valid BC driver's license
