Service Commissioning Manager
GE Vernova is a leading company in power conversion, seeking a Service Commissioning Manager to provide design support for services related to motors, drives, and control technologies. Responsibilities
Monitor, control, and manage installation and commissioning budgets throughout the preparation phase
Develop comprehensive cost estimates for equipment, labour, logistics, and contractor services
Support Project Manager to Implement financial controls and budget tracking systems in accordance with company guidelines
Support cost optimization initiatives and efficiency improvement plans in collaboration with teams from other business units
Work closely with ITO (Installation, Testing & Operations) and Sales teams to develop accurate installation and commissioning estimates for customer proposals
Provide technical expertise and cost analysis to support the sales process with realistic installation timelines and resource requirements
Collaborate with Sales teams to translate customer requirements into detailed installation and commissioning cost breakdowns
Support bid preparation by providing accurate subcontractor estimates and third-party service costs
Review and validate installation scope definitions with ITO teams to ensure estimate accuracy and completeness
Participate in customer meetings to explain installation methodology, timelines, and cost justifications
Coordinate multidiscipline engineering teams specializing in power systems, power conversion, VFD, automation, control, and mechanical integration
Organize resource allocation and scheduling to ensure installations meet customer, contract, quality, and regulatory requirements
Support procurement planning for installation equipment, tools, and commissioning resources
Arrange training and certification requirements for the resources before deployment
Create accurate subcontractor estimates for specialized installation and commissioning services
Coordinate with contractors
Oversee technical documentation, risk management processes, and design reviews during preparation phases
Coordinate for detailed installation and commissioning procedures, including testing protocols and performance validation methods
Coordinate with engineering teams to finalize system specifications and commissioning requirements
Establish quality and change control systems for execution activities
Provide technical leadership, advice, and assistance to multidisciplinary engineering teams
Support the Project Manager in planning and progressing all installation-related activities
Coordinate with customers, suppliers, and third parties during preparation phases
Integrates and develops service processes aligned with organizational objectives
Leads the execution of the Services growth strategy through strategic planning and initiatives
Contributes to the overall business strategy by identifying growth opportunities and providing expert insights
Leads and manages field resources, optimizing workload and ensuring efficient service delivery
Provides coaching and career development opportunities for field service engineers
Implements and enforces safety policies and regulations, fostering a culture of safety
Mentors team members and fosters a collaborative work environment
Effectively communicates with project managers, sourcing specialists, engineers, and factories across the globe
Qualification
Required
Masters/ bachelor's degree in mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution
10+ years of experience. Essential Requirements: Experience in installation and commissioning role
Experience working with Sales and ITO teams to develop competitive and accurate proposals
Knowledge of subcontractor markets and third-party service provider capabilities. Understanding of customer requirements translation into technical and commercial solutions
Strong background in budgeting, cost estimation, and financial oversight
Experience in resource coordination and allocation for technical activities
Knowledge of procurement processes and vendor coordination
Understanding of power generation, conversion, transmission, and distribution system economics. Expertise in LV and MV variable speed drives and motors
Proven ability to lead large multi-disciplinary teams and coordinate complex engineering operations
Excellent ability to multitask on various activities within strict time scales. Strong analytical, interpersonal, communication, presentation, and facilitation skills
Customer-centric mindset with experience in translating customer requirements into effective engineering solutions
Preferred
Lead servicing and commissioning of large service and commissioning system
Experience in using Lean tools for continuous improvement
Ability to design, sell and implement process improvements
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Proactive self-starter and change agent & ability to work under stress environment
Cross functional, ability to work on matrix environment, and international team experience
Effectively communicate across all organizational levels, departments, and functions
Demonstrated technical aptitude and business acumen
