Responsibilities

Inspects and tests malfunctioning medical or related equipment, following manufacturers' specifications and using test and analysis instruments. Tests or calibrates components or equipment, following manufacturers' manuals and troubleshooting techniques, using hand tools, power tools, or measuring devices
Performs repairs and regularly scheduled preventive maintenance on complex medical equipment for adherence to safety and performance standards
Keeps records of maintenance, repair, and required updates of equipment. Documents inspections, repairs and other technical activities per department policies and standards of practice
Performs preventive maintenance or service, such as cleaning, lubricating, or adjusting equipment
Tests, evaluates, and classifies excess or in-use medical equipment and determine serviceability, condition, and disposition, in accordance with regulations
Communicates appropriately with all staff, vendors, and customers
Provides additional technical services related to complex medical equipment as required

Required

High School diploma or GED
Three (3) years of direct patient care equipment maintenance and safety requiring knowledge of sophisticated medical equipment
