The State of Florida's Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles is dedicated to providing highway safety and security. The Regulatory Consultant will oversee regulatory compliance for Driver Education Licensing Assistance and the Florida Rider Training Program, while serving as a liaison between the Department and motorcycle safety schools.

Responsibilities

This position will be responsible for regulatory oversight of all laws, rules and regulations for Driver Education Licensing Assistance (DELAP) and the Florida Rider Training Program (FRTP)
The incumbent will be responsible for the administrative tasks associated with the FRTP
The incumbent in this position will serve as liaisons between the Department, motorcycle safety schools, and DELAP programs, to include RiderCoaches, Instructors and Examiners
This position will also be responsible for investigations and quality assurance monitoring of the FRTP, and DELAP programs

Required

Ability to plan, organize and direct program activities
Skill communicating effectively and efficiently, both orally and in writing
Ability to organize data into logical format for presentation in reports, training documents, policies, procedures and other written materials
Knowledge of procedures for operating motor vehicles
Ability to understand, interpret and apply state and federal motor vehicle laws and Motorcycle Safety Foundation regulations
Skill in customer service and public relations, including exercising tact, diplomacy, and patience with a diverse group of individuals
Ability to speak in front of groups and make effective presentations
Skill in auditing, reviewing, or analyzing data for compliance with regulatory requirements, determining key issues and developing solutions
Ability to collect, evaluate and analyze data to develop alternative recommendations for the improvement of operational and administrative practices
Ability to exercise independent judgment and work independently with minimal supervision
The selected applicant must have a valid driver's license
This position involves work performed in both controlled, indoor environments as well as outdoors (exposed to weather)
The selected applicant(s) will perform work activities within enclosed vehicles or equipment
Work activity will involve time spent walking as well as bending and twisting of the body to enter vehicles/equipment
Occasional overnight and extended travel is required

Preferred

Analyzing information or documents for compliance
Performing customer service duties, including handling complaints and problem-resolution
Preparing reports and/or presentations
Conducting quality assurance reviews and developing plans or making recommendations for corrective action
Providing statewide highway safety examination, instruction or training
Working in public relations, coordinating or participating in community events
Preference will also be given to applicants who are Certified Driver Licenses Examiners and who are bilingual
