Land Surveyor (Project Manager)

Precision Measurements, Inc. is responsible for making precise measurements to determine property boundaries. The Land Surveyor (Project Manager) will oversee survey projects, ensuring accurate data collection and quality control while collaborating closely with project managers and survey technicians.

Responsibilities

Measures distances and angles between points on, above, and below the Earth’s surface
Travels to locations and selects known reference points to determine the exact location of important features
Establishes, sets monuments, and stake sites of official land and water boundaries
Researches land records, survey records, and land titles
Looks for evidence of previous boundaries to determine where boundary lines are located
Records the results of surveying and verifies the accuracy of data
Prepares plots, maps, and reports
Presents findings to clients, government agencies, and others
Takes notes of land for deeds, leases, and other legal documents
Provides expert testimony in court regarding survey work
Maintains a working knowledge of Autocad, MicroStation, word processing, and spreadsheet programs
Contributes to the overall team efforts by completing other duties as assigned

Required

A professional land surveyors license is required
Valid Driver license at the time of application or prior to completion of initial/promotional probation
Ability to obtain a DBIDS or Rapid Gate Pass for entrance
Ability to work outdoors in extremes of heat, cold and inclement weather
Ability to traverse rough terrain on foot
Lift 25 pounds frequently and regularly lifts up to 50 pounds
High School Diploma or GED required
18 years of age

Preferred

Knowledge of AutoCAD, MicroStation, Carlson software, Trimble (TBC and TGO) and Topcon (Civil Suite, SurvCE) capabilities desirable
Knowledge of ALTA/ACSM Standards
Knowledge of minimum standards and procedures for surveys determining topography; field procedures; office procedures, section 18vac 1020382 of the Virginia DPOR regulations
Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and municipal regulations, codes, and specifications
Knowledge of Virginia's Construction and Professional Services Manual (CPSM)
Knowledge of GIS (Geographic Information System) technology
Knowledge of GPS (Global Positioning System) technology
Knowledge of PMI Rules and Personnel Policies/Procedures
Knowledge of PMI DrugFree Workplace Policy
Knowledge of PMI Safety Policies and Procedures
