Transportation Engineer 4 Test Lab 20051856
The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) oversees building and maintaining the nation’s 5th largest interstate system and the 3rd largest number of bridges. They are seeking a Transportation Engineer 4 to direct and administer all district test laboratory activities, manage staff, and ensure proper material documentation and acceptance.

Responsibilities
Direct and administer all district test laboratory activities
Management of Test Lab staff, including approval of Kronos & EIMS time, employee evaluations, approval of training, etc
Attend meetings to keep updated on projects and material testing (DET meetings, staff meetings, progress meetings, preconstruction meetings, etc.)
Meet with consultants, contractors and government officials to explain programs and projects
Review, evaluate, and create report with recommendations to the DCE regarding unapproved materials
Approve purchasing of equipment and budget expenditures for Test Lab
Answer questions and provide information to OMM concerning concrete mixes and projects where concrete is to be placed
Provide support to ODOT project personnel, ready-mix suppliers, contractors, and LPAs on material requirements
Provide technical support for QC/QA concrete pours, review and approve test reports
Review test reports sent in by project personnel and material producers
Ensure proper material documentation and acceptance in AWP
Review materials for acceptance in project finalization process and create/sign material certification
District Champion and training for AWP program regarding material documentation
Qualification
Required
Licensed as registered professional engineer by Ohio State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers & Surveyors
2 yrs. exp. as group or project leader or supervisor providing work direction & training to employees engaged in engineering projects or 2 yrs. exp. in managing engineering research projects
if assigned to operate a state vehicle to travel to & inspect project sites, must possess valid driver's license
Licensed as registered professional engineer by Ohio State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers & Surveyors; 12 mos. exp. as Transportation Engineer 3, 85643
if assigned to operate a state vehicle to travel to & inspect project sites, must possess valid driver's license
equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above may be substituted for the experience required, but not for the mandated registration
