Responsibilities
Auditing local businesses for tax compliance
Conducting field audits at business locations and desk audits in the office
Reviewing taxpayer's financial statements, tax returns schedules and other pertinent financial records
Evaluating business license, business personal property, sales tax, machinery and tools, transient occupancy, and short-term rental
Evaluation of new businesses for determination of exemptions, manufacturing status, and other factors affecting tax status within our locality
Perform other work as required
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, or a related field
One to three years of experience, preferably in a tax related field
Current valid driver's license and good driving record required
Record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date
No major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months
Out of state driving records must be obtained by applicant and presented at time of interview
Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview
Pre-employment drug testing required
FBI criminal background check required
Education/degree verification required
