Sr. Research Scientist
Amazon’s Middle Mile Planning Research and Optimization Science group is looking for a Senior Research Scientist specializing in design and evaluation of algorithms for predictive modeling and optimization. The role involves developing machine learning and causal modeling techniques to improve marketplace optimization solutions for large-scale transportation planning systems.

Responsibilities
Investigating the feasibility of applying scientific principles and concepts to business problems and products
Designing and building scalable products operating across multiple transportation modes
Creating experiments and prototype implementations of new learning algorithms and prediction techniques
Working closely with business leaders and engineers to implement models within production systems
Implementing solutions that are exemplary in terms of algorithm design, clarity, model structure, efficiency, and extensibility
Qualification
Required
3+ years of investigating the feasibility of applying scientific principles and concepts to business problems and products experience
PhD, or Master's degree and 5+ years of quantitative field research experience
Experience with big data technologies such as AWS, Hadoop, Spark, Pig, Hive etc
Experience communicating qualitative research methods and findings to non-qualitative researchers
Preferred
Experience converting research studies into tangible real-world changes
Experience with discrete and continuous optimization methodologies and algorithms
