Weston & Sampson is currently seeking a Civil/Environmental Engineer to join their Columbia, SC office. The role involves working on a variety of environmental engineering and construction assignments, including solid waste facility permitting, site assessments, and engineering design support.

Responsibilities

Work closely with our project managers and civil and environmental professionals on a variety of environmental engineering and construction assignments

Complete field assignments such as stormwater pollution prevention plan (SWPPP) inspections, spill protection, control, and countermeasure (SPCC) inspections, ASTM Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) site walks, and ASTM Phase II ESA investigation activities (e.g., drilling oversight and soil logging, monitoring well installation, and soil, groundwater, and air sampling)

Coordinate with managers and staff performing environmental assessment, remedial design and observation, and construction monitoring activities on cleanup sites and redevelopment projects

Support our engineering design teams for preparation of engineering design documents including plans, details, specifications, and cost estimates

Prepare reports and technical memoranda for a variety of environmental projects including environmental assessment, regulatory compliance, landfill environmental monitoring, solid waste permitting, feasibility studies, and engineering design

Review, manage, and process construction-phase Contractor submittals and requests for information

Coordinate task scheduling and design deliverables across a variety of environmental and engineering disciplines on multi-disciplinary design and construction projects

Participate in specific skill training for the designated job assignments

Required

Bachelor's degree or higher in environmental/civil engineering or related field

Ability to work outdoors on fast-paced field assignments

Working collaboratively and taking task ownership to achieve client objectives and project goals

Proficiency in computer spreadsheets and word processing software

Valid driver's license

Availability to travel for fieldwork as needed

Preferred

MS or willingness to obtain MS

Experience working in field setting and overseeing field services (e.g., construction oversight, drilling oversight and soils logging, monitoring well installation, and soil, groundwater, and air sampling)

Proficiency in AutoCAD, ArcGIS, and/or drafting

Willingness to obtain internal/external training to increase software skills
