The intern will conduct research, modeling, and prototyping in areas such as differentiable ray tracing and visual perception while working alongside senior researchers to develop impactful technologies.

Responsibilities

Optical designs and evaluation for 3D displays

Evaluate human visual response with visual computing toolbox ISETbio

Apply machine learning toolboxes to display optics design and/or human perception study

Publish papers

Qualification

Optical ScienceMachine LearningOptical Design SoftwareDifferentiable Ray TracingCommunication Skills

Required

Ph.D. or Ph.D. candidate in Optical Science, Vision, or Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering or relative major

Hands-on experience in optics lab (candidates with research experience will be considered)

Knowledge and experience in Machine Learning toolboxes such as PyTorch

Knowledge in optical aberrations and in running commercially available optical design software, such as OpticStudio/Zemax

Self-motivated detail-oriented team player

Good verbal and written communication skills. Have track record of publishing scientific papers

Preferred

Experience in writing codes for differentiable ray tracing is preferred
