STAFF TAX AUDITOR, EMPLOYMENT DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT
The Employment Development Department (EDD) is one of the largest State departments in California, connecting job seekers and employers for over 70 years. They are seeking a Staff Tax Auditor to interpret and apply various codes related to employment tax programs, develop guidelines, and conduct comprehensive audits to ensure statewide compliance.
Government Administration
Responsibilities
Interprets and applies provisions of the Internal Revenue Code, Business and Professions Code, and California Unemployment Insurance Code (CUIC)
Develops complex guidelines and formulates policies and procedures to assist management in the administration of the Employment Tax Program
Maintains and updates the Audit Procedure Handbook, Tax Status Guide, Information Sheets, Departmental Forms, and the Accounting and Compliance Enterprise System (ACES) Letters
Represents and tracks FACD's clearance package updates for manuals, notices, forms, and letters that directly impact the FACD and indirectly impact other Tax Branch
Independently performs staff work on the most difficult, complex and sensitive matters by participating on special projects and assignments
Conducts the most difficult, complex, and comprehensive audits and investigations to ensure statewide uniformity in the application of law, and ensures statewide quality of the audit program
Responds to 'Auditor of the Day' calls
Qualification
Required
Current version of the State Examination/Employment Application STD Form 678 (when not applying electronically), or the Electronic State Employment Application through your Applicant Account at www.CalCareers.ca.gov. All Experience and Education relating to the Minimum Qualifications listed on the Classification Specification should be included to demonstrate how you meet the Minimum Qualifications for the position
