Responsibilities

Tax return preparation. Must be able to take the lead in preparing to submission/review standard 1040 returns. We are a 1040 heavy house, 1041 and 1065 experience is a plus but not essential. This is not a learning position – candidates must be “return ready.”
Liaise directly with clients in collecting all supporting tax documentation and delivering a smooth return experience for clients
Familiarity with Estate and Gift Tax and associated planning is a major plus
California return experience required
Multi-state exposure highly desirable
Preparation of tax analysis and projections especially estimated tax payments
Work directly with clients to explain tax issues and keep clients compliant with their tax obligations
Stay current on new tax laws and position taxpayers for short-term and long-term tax optimization
Provide internal education and guidance to Baker Avenue’s wealth advisors

Required

At least three years of tax preparation experience EA preferred (or CPA license)
Comfortable in a client facing role and working with high-net-worth individuals
Demonstrated experience in tax compliance
Knowledge of taxation laws as relates to 1031, QSBS, Qualifying Opportunity Zones, Tax Loss Harvesting, Charitable Donations, Stock Compensation, Basis step-up, Roth IRAs, Post-tax Retirement Savings, Gifting, and Capital Gains tax planning
A genuine desire to know our clients and help them achieve what is most important to them
Unwavering commitment to integrity in personal and professional activities
Excellent communication skills – both oral and written
Attention to detail, solid organizational skills, and ability to prioritize tasks
Experience with Lacerte a must. Please don't apply if you have not used Lacerte to prepare returns
Tech savvy

Preferred
