Responsibilities
Maintain and support the Unix and Linux servers
Monitor server performance and plan for enhancements to the server environment
Monitor and support the Linux-based email system
Provide administrative support for Luminis, the web portal product
Maintain the database for the provisioning and deprovisioning of computer accounts
Communicate with the department manager for daily and strategic assignments updates. Review short and long-term objectives
Maintain detailed documentation of all system components
Participate in scheduled meetings, address new and recurring issues, and Target areas in need of attention
Develop and maintain services, provide continuous service improvement, and analyze industry trends, review records, procedures, and duty rosters
Qualification
Required
5+ years of UNIX administration experience
2 + years working with Red Hat Enterprise Linux
Ability to be a self-starter and bring best practices to the organization
Speaks clearly and expresses oneself well in one-on-one conversations and groups
Develops effective written communications and uses them appropriately
Interacts and proactively shares information with internal and external contacts where appropriate
Develops effective relationships with peers, students, and employees
Assumes responsibility to ensure issues/concerns will be addressed and monitors them through conclusion
Identifies, defines, and analyzes information and situations before recommending a course of action
Effectively manages own time and resources
Seeks to apply technology and innovation to improve efficiency and solve problems
Preferred
Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field
Perl, shell script programming, and TCP/IP networking experience
Knowledge of AIX and Oracle PL/SQL
