Responsibilities

Designs, develops, and implements testing methods and equipment
Plans and arranges the labor, schedules, and equipment required for testing and evaluating standard and special devices
Provides test area with parameters for sample testing and specifies tests to be performed
Compiles data and defines changes required in testing equipment, testing procedures, manufacturing processes, or new testing requirements
Responsible for testing all customer samples and for special tests that cannot be performed in the test area
Position is responsible to lead and manage the Newport News Shipbuilding Submarine Ship Safety organization
Trains, qualifies and assigns Submarine Ship Safety Officers and Superintendents to the Submarines under construction and undergoing maintenance at Newport News Shipbuilding

Required

Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program
6 years of relevant professional/exempt experience
Lead Test Engineer (LTE) certification
Shift Test Engineer (STE) certification
Ship Safety Officer (SSO) certification
Inactivation Test Engineer (ITE) certification
Shift Refueling Engineer (SRE) certification
US Citizenship Required
Final Clearance Required to Start

Preferred

Experience as a qualified Ship Safety Officer
Knowledge / experience in United States Navy Submarine construction, operation, maintenance, testing, work control and/or naval architecture
