Robotics Lead Technician

Responsibilities
Programming robotic welders (Motoman, Cincinnati Milacron)
Set up PLC and robot communications on new and old equipment
Understand weld quality
Troubleshoot and remedy weld defects, wire feeders, weld power sources, welding torches, etc
Debug robotics programs
Provide technical support for robotic systems
Investigate mechanical failures or unexpected maintenance problems
Create back up of robot programs or parameters
Analyze and improve robot programs and move to improve efficiency
Reprogram automation for engineering changes and improvements
Set up/program/conduct tests for process improvement and new products
Provide technical assistance to production supervisors, industrial engineers, and project managers
Trains others when changes in equipment or programs
Involvement in the successful launch of new products and technology
Responsible for the monitoring and improving the manufacturing process, working with production, tooling, maintenance, quality to maximize throughput, quality, up-time, and reducing costs
Troubleshoot including but not limited to mechanical, electrical controls, hydraulic, pneumatic, robotics, vision, PLCs, tooling
Implement permanent corrective actions based on troubleshooting and root cause analysis
Process development and documentation of manufacturing work instructions
Evaluate downtime situations for root cause and suggest/implement improvements
Other duties as assigned by manager
Qualification
Required
Electrical tech, PLC Programming knowledge required
Minimum 2 years Robotic Welding Programming experience required including robot interface, programming, or peripheral equipment integration/operation
2-5 years workable knowledge of MRC (Motoman) and Milacron knowledge required
Demonstrated knowledge of basic weld parameters and torch angles
Must have ability to program, startup, troubleshoot and repair robots, with an emphasis on programming
Robot and PLC interface code development and debug experience
Understand communication between PLC and robot integration
Reading and working from blueprints, programming and editing complex weldments, operating a highly technical robot, and work with select weld processes
Demonstrated knowledge of welding methods, programming logic, weld parameters, and highly technical equipment
Should be literate in computer skills using Windows, MSOffice and AutoCad

Work is performed indoors in a heated modern factory space. Ambient working temperature may range from 55 F – 90 F, depending on season. Work area is clean and free from wet, slippery conditions
Employee required to wear personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection and gloves
Potential hazards may include working with moving parts (machines guarded per OSHA rules), nip points, material handling, sharp edges on stock, flying particles, sparks, heat, welding fumes, arc rays/light, electrical, lifting and moderate noise exposure (70-90 db)

Preferred
Associate's degree (AA) or equivalent 2-year college or technical school offering specialized robotic training
