Senior Estimator (Electrical/ Mechanical)

MDA Edge is seeking five Senior Electrical and Mechanical Estimators who will be based in various office locations including Paducah, KY. The role involves producing accurate and timely project estimates, maintaining supplier relationships, and preparing requests for quotations while ensuring project specifications are met.

Responsibilities

The Senior Estimator positions are responsible for producing accurate and timely, full-cost project estimates, including materials and labor
Responsibilities include maintaining a comprehensive list of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors, and analyzing blueprints, specifications, and proposals to generate accurate and profitable electrical estimates plus per job
As a Senior Estimator, you will prepare electrical and/or mechanical cost estimates for diverse projects, including conceptual, design-build, and general tender work, regardless of size or complexity
Independently calculate materials, labor, and equipment costs based on proposals, plans, and specifications, including project closings
Review specific and detailed data to determine material and labor requirements
Compute cost factors for management purposes, such as planning, organizing, scheduling work, bidding, vendor selection, subcontracting, and cost-effectiveness analysis
Draft requests for quotations (RFQ's) to secure competitive pricing from suppliers and subcontractors
Collaborate with project teams to garner support and commitment for cost estimates
Use estimating software such as Accubid for precise cost calculations
Analyze current practices and pricing to identify cost-saving opportunities and process enhancements and recommend process improvements
Collaborate with other estimators and the Director, estimating to establish project indirect costs and overheads for each estimate
Mentor and support junior estimators, assisting with quantity take-offs and quotations
Perform additional duties as assigned to achieve company objectives

Required

3-25+ years construction estimating experience in automotive, data center, or heavy industry sectors
A bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university or trade craft certification preferred, or equivalent experience
Solid understanding of electrical and mechanical drawings, and ability to interpret schematics
Familiarity with industry practices, electrical trade scope, and Bid Depository regulations
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and knowledgeable in Accubid Estimating Software
Ability to build relationships and work effectively within a team
Strong organizational skills, capable of handling multiple competing priorities and timelines
3-7+ years experience estimating single trade jobs > $3M
7+ years experience estimating multi-trade jobs > $10M
10+ years experience estimating multi-trade jobs > $200M
