V2X Inc is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their Hardware Engineering team in Indianapolis, IN. The role involves designing new products and test hardware, improving existing products, and providing leadership and mentorship to junior engineers while supporting various DoD programs.

Responsibilities

Design of new products and test hardware

Improvement of existing products

Utilize mechanical engineering expertise during proposal and concept generation phase, product development, production, and qualification testing phases of new product design

Design creative solutions that meet product requirements

Be proficient with 3D modeling and drafting

Support production, integration, and testing

Develop solutions leveraging commercial off the shelf (COTS) products paired with custom hardware

Engage vendors, manufacturers, and SMEs regarding design decisions

Participate in design reviews at part, subsystem and system level including Peer Reviews, DFMAs, PDRs, and CDRs

Provide leadership on mechanical designs

Provide mentorship to junior engineers

Work closely with systems, electrical, test, and production engineers

Required

Must be a US Citizen with ability to obtain a DoD Secret level clearance

Ability to work onsite at our Indianapolis, Indiana facility with an Integrated Product Team being hands on with hardware

A minimum of 5 years professional work experience required

Experience in the design, integration, or testing of mechanical components and assemblies

Competent using 3-D CAD Modeling Tools (CREO preferred)

Working knowledge of data management systems (Windchill preferred)

Proficient in application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, (ASME Y14.5 standards)

Strong planning and organizational skills with ability to be adaptable to changing priorities and assignments

Performing trade studies

Must be a self-starter, a quick learner, and be able to function in a dynamic environment, and have good time management skills

Must have strong teaming skills, and good communication skills

Demonstrated Creative thinking and problem solving

Understanding of manufacturing processes including traditional CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, mechanical assemblies, water jet, laser, welding, EDM, additive manufacturing, etc

Understanding of aerospace materials and coatings

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, or related Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) degree program

Experience capturing key characteristics & requirements for systems

Design, integration, or test experience/understanding of any combination
