Responsibilities

Execute color designs for apparel products, finalize product color details, and follow through on color execution for each product
Review all samples, collaborate with design, marketing, and development to achieve a marketable color solution, and communicate changes for final confirmation
Maintain and track color calendars, timelines, and deadlines for the assigned category
Develop line art, color design server entries, GPIN, PDM updates, merchandising line info, cutting samples, and coordinate materials with material consultants
Partner with design, product marketing, development, and material consultants to plan product details and focus color solutions for market success
Gather and apply category-specific information (consumer, channels, market) to develop solutions that meet quality, cost/value, manufacturability, sustainability, merchandising, and aesthetic finish goals
Create and execute innovative, retailable color solutions for category and/or gender-specific lines each season
Contribute to seasonal, category-specific direction of color, materials, and graphics aligned with design philosophy, performance, and target consumer needs
Understand and apply color, design, market, and lifestyle trends that influence the category
Study consumers, competitors, retail habits, and market trends and apply insights into color strategies and executions
Present and communicate category color direction and color merchandising direction of the seasonal line to cross-functional teams as needed
Proactively build color design skills, materials knowledge, technology and tools expertise, and overall product and process understanding in collaboration with senior color designers and management

Required

Bachelor's degree with 2–4 years of directly relevant color or apparel design experience, or equivalent alternative (PhD/Law +1 yr; Masters +0–3 yrs; Associates +1–3 yrs; High School +3–5 yrs)
True color design for apparel experience as the primary focus (not just color development)
Experience working in or with large apparel brands; ability to work at high pace and urgency
Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft Office tools
Ability to manage color calendars, multiple timelines, and coordinate with cross-functional teams
Strong communication and presentation skills to clearly convey color direction and changes

Preferred

Previous experience with major global sportswear or apparel brands, with proven ability to hit the ground running
Experience with Vizcom AI or similar visualization/AI tools
Background working on category or gender-specific lines and seasonal storytelling
Familiarity with PDM/PLM systems, GPIN, and merchandising tools
Experience integrating sustainability and manufacturability considerations into color solutions
