Responsibilities
A Data Migration Architect must combine technical depth, planning, and communication to ensure a successful, auditable, and low-risk migration for critical OSS data
Ability to analyze source and target schemas, identify dependencies, and define migration sequencing
Design robust migration strategies (full, incremental, delta loads)
Define rollback and recovery procedures
Define and implement data validation, reconciliation, and audit controls
Plan for data cleansing, deduplication, and transformation logic
Architect migration for high throughput and minimal downtime
Plan for parallelization, batching, and error handling
Ensure data privacy, masking, and secure transfer
Comply with regulatory and audit requirements
Design automated migration pipelines with monitoring and alerting
Enable detailed logging and traceability for all migration steps
Document migration architecture, mapping, and business rules
Communicate with business, DBAs, and application teams
Plan and execute migration dry runs, cutover, and post-migration validation
Support go-live and subsequent phases
Qualification
Required
12-15 years of experience with the Telecom domain
BE degree
Deep knowledge of relational databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, etc.)
Experience with large, complex schemas (10000+ tables, many relationships)
Proficiency in data modeling, ETL, and data quality tools
Familiarity with data migration orchestration (e.g., Airflow, Talend, Informatica)
Hands-on experience in Scripting Specifically Python, Shell scripts
Message definitions/ parsing
Experience in different flavours of RDBMS (Postgres, Oracle, Informix)
