Harris County Attorney's Office is responsible for prosecuting seizures of contraband and related criminal activities. The Felony 2 Assistant District Attorney will gain experience in civil litigation, handle their own docket, and supervise a paralegal while working closely with other divisions.

Responsibilities

YOU MUST BE A LICENSED ATTORNEY TO BE CONSIDRED
The District Attorney’s Asset Forfeiture Division is responsible for the prosecution of all seizures of contraband, seizures related to gambling, and the disposition of stolen or fraudulently obtained property
Asset Forfeiture plays a crucial role in disrupting and deterring criminal activity, dismantling criminal enterprises, depriving criminals of the proceeds and instrumentalities of illegal activity, and restoring property to victims
Through the forfeiture process criminals are denied the profits of their crimes, which allows these forfeited funds to be reinvested into our communities, repurposing ill-gotten gains to assist ongoing law enforcement efforts
This position provides the opportunity to gain experience in civil litigation, handle your own docket, supervise a paralegal, and work closely with other areas including Major Narcotics and Money Laundering
Asset Forfeiture provides a great way to learn civil law and its practical application
While prior experience in civil law is not necessary, any previous experience is a plus
