Research Assistant Professor - Indigenous South Archaeology

The successful candidate will teach and mentor students while conducting archaeological research in South Carolina and seeking grant funding to support their work.

Teach one class per semester for the Department of Anthropology’s professional master’s degree track in archaeological practice
Mentor students and sit on and chair graduate committees for the degree track
Conduct archaeological research in South Carolina
Seek grant funding
Publish research and share that research with the public

Required

PhD in Anthropology or related field with a focus on the archaeology of the deep Indigenous past of the Eastern US
Active research program that seeks to decolonize and indigenize the past

Preferred

Record of established relationships with Indigenous communities
Experience with one or more aspects of public archaeology
Ability to mentor a broad array of students with diverse research projects
